Is liberal-bashing acceptable?

Is this and similar language, and the constant stream of hate rhetoric by the right wing bashing liberals acceptable in today's society? Is this constitutionally protected free speech? Is this discrimination? Are liberals a group against which discrimination is acceptable? Is suggesting violence against someone because of his/her political beliefs any different from suggesting violence against someone because of their religious beliefs, or some other aspect or trait of that person? Should this type of speech be allowed in the United States?

3. Yes, it's just a metaphor, but, what if some religion was substituted for "liberal," such as

to pick some random hypothetical examples...

Muslim Hunting Permit
Jew Hunting Permit
Atheist Hunting Permit
Hindu Hunting Permit

... and so forth... if the sign had read any of those, would that still be allowed? What's the difference, really, between one belief system (liberalism) and another (Islam)?
