Rep. Tierney (D. Mass) allegedly involved in illegal gambling scandal.

As long as i have lived in Massachusetts, my state legislature has been overwhelmingly Democratic and my entire federal delegation has been Democratic--until the Brown turd.

Now Brown and Warren are neck and neck AND Tierney is in a scandal this close to election day? I am so sad. The only saving grace is that it's not my own Rep., Mike Capuano, for whom i would gladly vote 100 timems, if the law allowed.

John Tierney seeks to address nagging questions overshadowing reelection campaign
07/03/2012 12:03 PM

By Glen Johnson, Globe Staff

US Representative John F. Tierney, facing nagging questions about his knowledge of an illegal gambling ring that threaten his political career, is holding a news conference this afternoon in an effort to quell the fury and stifle any speculation he will abort his reelection campaign.

“This is a chance to make himself available to the media and answer any and all questions that are asked of him,” campaign manager Matt Robison told the Globe this morning.

The Salem Democrat plans to meet with reporters at the Hawthorne Hotel in his home city, and has already announced that he will march in parades and participate in other Fourth of July public events on Wednesday on the North Shore.

The news conference, said an adviser, who requested anonymity to speak candidly about internal campaign strategy, is an effort to “draw a line in the sand” and move forward with the reelection campaign.

The story goes no to say that he is not expected to withdraw and, because of state law, Democrats may not be able to get him off the Sept 6 primary ballot, should they want to.

I have no proof, but my gut is saying 'I don't like this at all.'

1. Dude, withdraw from the primary, for the love of all that is good in the world.

His story could not have been lamer.

He knew they started a gambling operation, but had no idea it was an illegal one? Seriously? He is a legislator and never asked questions?

His wife admitted to filing false tax returns for her brothers and he knew nothing about that, either?

Please tell me the Democrats will back someone else for the September 6 primary. PLEASE.
