Who will be Romney's Vice Presidential pick?
I think he would be crazy to pick anyone but a woman, preferably one from Florida or Pennsylvania, and most preferably one of Latino origin or ancestry.

Of course, she should be highly intelligent, well-informed and well vetted, certainly not a closet secessionist.

Yes, I know it will not be easy to find this person. And, ultimately, it won't matter because Obama/Biden will win.

However, if he picks someone like pawlenty, they both may as well tape "kick me" signs to their respective backs right now.

3. This person might be a stealth candidate for Romney's VP.
Kerry Healey.

Kerry Murphy Healey (born April 30, 1960) was the 70th Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts. She served from 2003 to 2007 with Governor Mitt Romney. She was the 2006 Republican nominee for Governor of Massachusetts, losing to Democrat Deval Patrick in November 2006. She currently serves as Foreign Policy Coordinator and Special Advisor on the Romney for President Campaign <1>. Healey was also elected as the Republican National Committeewoman for the state of Massachusetts.

Healey was born in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida.

.....

After Governor Mitt Romney's announcement that he would not seek re-election in the 2006 election Healey formally announced on February 8, 2006, that she would seek the Republican nomination for Governor. Healey and her running mate Reed Hillman received the endorsement of the Republican state convention nomination for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and were the only Republican candidates in the September 19 primary. On November 7, Healey was defeated by Democrat Deval Patrick by 21 percentage points.

On August 28, 2009, The Boston Globe reported that Healey was considering running in the special election for the US Senate seat formerly held by Edward M. Kennedy.<4>

On September 7, 2009, Healey decided not to run for the vacant post.

.....

Recent work

In 2008, Healey was appointed to the Department of State's Executive Committee of the Public-Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan by Condoleezza Rice and was reappointed in 2009 by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Healey chaired the PPP's Afghan Women Lawyers' Training Conference held in California and Washington, DC, and in 2010, she led the Afghan Defense Lawyer Training Program in Boston and Washington, DC.<5><6>

Healey is currently the President of the Friends of the Public-Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan (Friends of the PPP), a non-profit that assists the PPP in providing LLM scholarships and Rule of Law training to Afghan lawyers at US law schools. <7>

In 2009, Healey partnered with Ambassador Swanee Hunt to co-chair the Political Parity project. This nonpartisan initiative works to increase the number of women in high-level state and national political offices, through programs including the Media Accountability Project and the Women’s Appointment Project.<8>

.....

'Scholarships and Rule of Law training for Afghan lawyers at U. S. Law Schools'?

'Media Accountability Project'?

Hmmmmmm.

Heard an interview she gave a couple of months ago. My impression, after the Romney gush-fest wound down, is that she is an unabashed ego stroker, and Mitt certainly demands that.

IMHO, Romney is least likely to select as his VP anyone he perceives as upstaging him. (For example, Marco "I'm Peddling My Book" Rubio or Jeb "I Am Entitled To Be King" Bush, although we aren't taking our eye off of this pair.)

Ms. Healy is currently serving as Foreign Policy Coordinator and Special Advisor on the Romney for President Campaign.

We will soon see if she figures into Romney's aspirations. Heck, she even resembles the Mrs.

5. I don't think so. She coud not win the Massachusetts gubernatorial. .
And having two people on the ticket who are considered to be from Massachusetts is not the usual way Presidential tickets are "balanced."

Besides, she has all the same problems as he has. No charisma, rich, associated with Romneycare, etc.

4. Condoleezza Rice.
I first predicted this in '09 and I'm sticking to it. I think this is definitely the reason she has been reintroducted to the world stage over the last twelve months, including publishing two books and building up an ever more friendly public image.

She will be there to try to force Romney to stick to the neocons war plans--there are still a few angling for an official war with Iran.

6. She is widely rumored to be a lesbian, not a plus with the Rethug base.

Then again, they seem to accept Mary Cheney, who is married with children but then again again, Mary Cheney has never run for office, so who knows if they would accept her at the polls as they seem to as a pundit.

(Her spouse, btw, looks uncannily like her, especially the lips. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/23/mary-cheney-married-heather-poe-wedding_n_1621564.html Look in a mirror and fall in love. I used to think the same thing about Johnny Depp and Kate Moss.)

Whether or not the rummors about Condi are true, he would be taking a risk naming her. And he cannot afford to take a risk. And, i think if she had wanted to run in a national election, she would have done so in 2008.

Of course, I could be wrong. That is just my analysis.

(Delayed reaction: Hillary re-appointed the same person Condi appointed? And obama did the same with people like Bernanke and Gates? Remind me: Democrats run on change in 2008, right?)
