4. Going to a gunfight unarmed won't solve any problems

If a handful of people had been carrying guns in that theater, that psycho shooter would have been killed in a heartbeat. He knew everyone would be unarmed and easy to kill.

And consider this: His apartment wasn't boobytrapped with guns. You don't need guns to make explosives.

If that guy had started tossing homemade bombs into that theater, there would be a lot more people injured and dead.

Guns aren't the problem. Psychopaths are the problem. And if they want to kill people en masse, they'll find a way to do it. If we did somehow stop them from getting guns, ingredients for homemade (and far more devastating) bombs are just a trip to the hardware store away.

This shooter didn't act normal, and then suddenly shoot up a theater. There were signs which were ignored by everyone at that university he was attending. He only got noticed because he killed other people. Most guys like that end up attempting suicide.

Either way, it's a mental health issue. Until we treat it as such, we'll continue to see suicides and murders.

5. It isn't a gunfight unless both sides are armed.

Going armed doesn't solve much either.

And the ability of psychopaths to get their hands on guns and explosives is a huge problem.
