Colbert showed a clip. Willard actually made a face somewhere between disgust and condescion when speaking of it.
And, from what i have read, Lovey seems to have been papa George's pick for the young Mittens.
I watch Mitt's facial expressions sometimes. They remind me of someone in movie from the twenties or thirties trying to play the pure, brave hero of a film.
The Nelson Eddy Jeanette MacDonald type genre comes to mind, but I am sure there must be more. (Obscure reference, for anyone not born in 1900, sorry. You just can't let some people, not saying who, take a film course.)
But the lead is a really bad actor.
So, when Romney looks angry, you can tell it's Romney trying to look angry. And, when he looks fawningly and lovingly at Lovey, you can tell it's Romney trying to look hopelessy devoted to Lovey. And so on.
i am not saying he is not actually having genuine feelings. i am saying only that he telegraphs that he is trying to look to the public as though he is having certain feelings, much as a very bad actor does.
Anyway, that is the sense I get whenever he looks down at Lovey so very lovingly every time he looks at her.
