On the merits and morals of a benign fascism
Since it looks like the world will never get out of the grip of fascists, maybe we should just embrace our tendencies and make a totally benign version of fascism. One that works for all. All for one and one for all... or something.

Is such a thing possible?

1. Why would it be possible? We can't even get a benign democracy.

2. I don't much like the sound of that, Cronus.
I think we have about the most benign fascism we could have, already.

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini

"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country." -Thomas Jefferson

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation then by deflation, the banks and the corporations will grow up around them, will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."-Thomas Jefferson

3. Yeh, I know, but since we're going to have fascism anyway...
And some will say we already have it, perhaps we might do ourselves well to consider ways to make it benign, or even beneficial.

5. Haven't we been trying to do that?
