Came across an article about Fr. Groeschel in the NYT from 2007, entitled straddling liberalism and conservatism.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/25/nyregion/nyregionspecial2/25WEpeople.htmlWhat the hell was wrong with the author of this gush piece? Did she not get his book and that he was putting responsiblity everywhere but on the pedophile priests and the church that had been covering up for them for decades, if not millenia?
The guy who shot John Lennon came up for parole recently. While seeking to be paroled, he contradictorily stated that he had become so bonded that, if grqanted parole, he would probably stay "right here" because he had become so "bonded."
Whatever Fr. Groeschel may or may not have done for people who did not believe exactly as he did in his youth, he is so bonded to the Church hierarchy now that he calls victims of pedophile priests "seducers."
The National Catholic Register, which had published the interview containing his heinous remarks, took his recent rationalizations about pedophile priests off the internet after the flood of criticism.
The Register claimed that the interview with Fr. Groeschel had undergone zero editorial review prior to publication because of Fr. Groeschel's prior "stellar record." Of what? Of years of blaming everyone but the church and the pedophile priests for the relatively recent embarrassment of the church? He sure doesn't have a stellar record when it comes to overweening concern for the victims. Then again, neither does the Church OR the Register.
The Register used to belong to the Legion of Christ, whose founder turned out himself to be a sexual abuser, although the original charge by the Church was "violations of celibacy."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Catholic_RegisterETWN, or eternal word television network, is the Catholic network that has made Groeschel a media personality and given him a mass audience for many years.
