Congresswoman Yvette Clark seems like a lovely person, but was embarrassing on Colbert.

His interview of her was painful; and I don't think that was his intent--at least not at first.

It was the September 4 episode. I did not have to patience to see if the entire episode was online at Comedy Central.

First, she was too nice. She was way too cooperative with his games.

That said, she was under the impression that slavery existed in Brooklyn in 1898 and the Dutch were the ones responsible for that.

Those are fairly shocking gaps in her knowledge, both as to the history of the United States and the history of her own district, as well as in the history of New York City.

I hate to say it because, again, she does seem so very lovely as a human being. However, with a knowledge of basic events that is so deficient, should she really be in Congress?

Then again, maybe Congress could use more lovely people?

Very torn here, which shows my bias. If she were a Republican, I'd probably know exactly how to feel.
