Andrea Mitchell Greenspan was trying to get Barbara Boxer off message.
After a pertinent question or two, Greenspan listed three references to the Hitler regime made by Democrats at the convention, including one by a Democrat who had already apologized. And after Obama said there was no room for that kind of remark.
IOW, Andrea had her claw on a shiny object and wanted Boxer to abandon substantive statements about Romney/Ryan versus the President and to focus instead on unimportant drivel that doesn't really matter.
Barbara Boxer said "I don't want to spend my time talking about nastiness." Then she went right back into what she planned to say about Obama and Romany.
And that, my friends, should be a life lesson to us all. Never let Republicans (or any other opponent) tell you where the playing field is. It's your mouth. You decide what you want to say and then say it. Who cares which jackass question some fool asked you?
I must say, I have seen a lot of that kind of thing from Democrats during this convention. No matter what the frivolous shiny thing question is, Democrats simply say what they came to say. Some of them are not even bothering with a token transitional phrase.
I love it.
