members of the Republican damage control squad, whether paid or volunteer.
Or so it has always seemed to me.
Sometimes, they call in on the Republican line and sometimes on the Indie line. But, you know as soon as they say, "I'm an independent, but..." who they really are.
I can't remember if this was 2004 or 2008, but one day, I visited the DNC website and the RNC website, one after the other, just out of curiosity. The first page of the DNC website was a big picture of the candidate, grinning, and most of the website was devoted to talking about the candidate.
The RNC website, though, was full of places you should call and write and what you should say when you do call or write, with addresses, email address, phone numbers, etc.
It was quite a stark difference.
The Republican GOTV machine is reportedly superior to that of the Democrats this time around, too. Someone--maybe Chuck Tool--said it could make up for a few points difference between Obama and Romney in the polls.
Of course, political stations have little choice but to pretend Obama will somehow be neck and neck for another month and a half, no matter what the polls are saying. It's the only way they can keep their ratings up and ratings are their bread and butter. (Or are they?)
