Too many other areas of California are full of RW rednecks.
Like Lakeside, California, for example, pop. all of about 21,000 and proud home of the Lakeside Rodeo. Yee haw!

Independent producer Lee Harvey narrates this hour-long study of racism in Lakeside, Calif., in an understated style. She profiles how life in this small-town suburb of San Diego has changed, especially for its adolescents, and she teases out White Power racism in the murder of a Mexican worker by local white youths. Completed after the notorious school shootings in Colorado and California, the program is impressionistic, empathetic and complex. In a very real sense, this is urgent spot news in a long, thoughtful form.

Two sheriff's deputies shot, wounded

LAKESIDE, Calif., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Two San Diego County, Calif., sheriff's deputies were shot as they tried to interview a man in a case of suspected child abuse, officials said.
Witnesses said the gunman fired on Detective Ali Perez and Sgt. Craig Johnson as they tried to enter his Lakeside apartment Tuesday during an investigation into allegations he molested his girlfriend's two daughters, KSWB-TV, San Diego, reported.
Perez was listed in critical but stable condition Tuesday night, sources told KNSD-TV, San Diego. Johnson was shot in the arm and expected to be OK.
"We had two of our deputies shot today in the line of duty. It's a constant reminder of how dangerous this job is that we do every day," Sheriff Bill Gore said.
More deputies went to the scene and engaged the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Daniel Witczak, in a shootout, officials said. The suspected gunman was wounded, possibly by a self-inflicted gunshot, officials said.
A woman who said she was Witczak's girlfriend told reporters the situation began when she found photographs on his cellphone of him performing lewd acts with one of her two daughters, KSWB said. Later, during a phone call monitored by investigators, the suspect allegedly admitted to the crimes, saying he received a $50,000 offer to post the images online.
