Neil Young joined thim this time.

I don't know how many years he has done a Farm Aid concert, but it seems like forever.

1. Well, I'm a Neil fan from way back.
I have vinyl copies of his first several LPs. And a functional Marantz direct drive turn table, I might add. Here's a clip from Farm Aid 2012. Neil does an old Buffalo Springfield tune--Mr. Soul. Fire up a fatty and listen.

2. I smoked pot one night for hours, desperately trying to get high.
Edited on Thu Sep-27-12 01:12 AM by No Elephants
I was about 23 or 24. Believe it or not, it was my first experience with pot.

(I think I was trying to mood alter because of a bad break up or a bad fight with whomever I was dating at the time. Don't even remember who it was now, just remember my attenpt to feel better.)

I never got high.

The next day, though, I had a horrible hangover, something I never had from alcohol. not only that, but my face hurt from having inhaled for hours.

Never did it again.

After Bubba's "I tried it once, but didn't inhale" confession, I hesitate to tell my story about my one and only personal experience with pot. On the other hand, my story is true and I am not entirely sure Bubba's is.

Then again, that may depend on what your definition of "is" is.

;-)

3. P.S. Thanks for the link. I loved the guitar riffs--and the family farms T Shirt.
The Democratic Party was once the party of farmers and farm laborers alike.

Then came factory farming and proliferation of lobbyists and somehow.....

4. Pot is weird that way.
I smoked the first time without getting high also. Actually, in retrospect, I did get high, I just didn't recognize it. Weirdness.

5. It's been at least a few months since
I was 23 or 24.

;-)

And, in hindsight, the only thing I got was exhausted. (I really did smoke a long time.) So, I was never tempted to repeat it.

My reaction to other controlled substances is usually to react more than anyone can fathom. "Don't operate heavy machinery" on a bottle usually means I will sleep for three consecutive days. And, as I said, I start getting drunk after a few sips of wine.

It's just as well, I have an addictive personality. I've always been a total chicken about breaking laws; and I had very, very little money at that time, due to the size of my share of the rent in a NYC apartment.

So, in all, it was very beneficial that I did not get pleaantly high when I smoked pot or like the taste of hard liquor or enjoy being drunk.

Wish I had not enjoyed cigarettes then, either.

Can't win 'em all.

6. Your story is
a commonly heard one in regard to both addiction and a near miss. FWIW I'm also a total chicken about breaking laws. :toast:

7. Oh, I got addicted, but to cigarettes, the legal, but far more unhealthy smoke.

I did have a "near miss" of another kind, thanks to those, but I survived.

So far.
