I just took a fast look at DU 3, then a fast look at Free Republic.
You would think the two boards were about two different countries.

Or maybe two different universes.

Not judging either one. Just saying that the tailors for the Emperor's New Clothes would have been very happy with the internet, if they had only lived to see it.

All right. I admit it. That was nothing if not judge-alicious.

BTW, that was the first time in my life that I went to Free Republic deliberately. I'd been there previously under ten times and each time I had followed a link from some DU post that failed to warn where the link led.

1. Go ahead and judge.
Free Republic is Naziville.

3. Excuse me while
I get myself banned, but, after looking at both boards, I did not think there was only one with an alternative reality.

4. But not the same alternate reality, and DU is more of a hopeful naivete on the part of us activists
As opposed to a bizarre hate-filled incessant flame-fest by disgruntled and out-of-touch loons over on freeperville.

I think it used to be fun to read from time to time, at least when the old-fashioned conservatives would argue with the fascists and the right-libertarians in a three-way tussle.

6. Maybe things on DU3 have gotten more conservative than they were here
I haven't gone back yet but I thought things were settling down over there.

Probably not.

Bronies suck when it comes to politics BTW. Lots of apathy and immaturity (gee, I wonder why, maybe because they're mostly high school students lol)

7. Being conservative or liberal is not what I meant.. It's about dealing in reality.
I said that, looking at both boards, I thought I was reading about two different

Someone assumed that I meant that one of the boards==and only one--was dealing in fantasy, and I said maybe both board were.

It has nothing to do with whether one is conservative or liberal because, IMO, both sets of posters, one left (sort of) and one right are behaving the same way.

IRL, I see the same thing: a need to believe--or at least speak as though you believe== that the people you love have no flaws.
