The most old school of the Italian bakeries in my neighborhood makes a cookie-ish kind of thing called "bones of the dead" at this time of year. After it's been around a while, it will break not only your teeth, but your jaw too! Its clove flavor is yummy, though.

I think that Italians and Mexicans, must have a more intimate relationship with the deceased than do most of us in the U.S.?

Anyhow, peace and blessings to all our loved ones and to all people we admire, whether living or gone too soon.

No, I just like interesting mashups. There's a much bigger version somewhere with a lot more "day of the dead" style characters in it. Explains a lot. They are actually Mayan gods / demons :evilgrin:
