Senator Sanders was re-elected from Vermont as an Indie. The Democrats did not run anyone against him. (Interpret that as you will.) He defeated his Republican challenger. This may be the victory that made me the most happy last night.
An indie won Olympia Snowe's seat.
Senator Elect Elizabeth Warren defeated the Brown turd, but he promised that defeat would be only temporary. This tells me that he will either run for Governor or for Kerry's seat, esp. if Kerry becomes Secretary of State. And eventually, he will run for President. (I said the same thing about Romney in 1994.) It was probably the most expensive race in the nation, after the Presidency. And the Democrat had more money than the Republican.
The entire Massachusetts delegation is blue again. Even "I didn't know my wife was running a gambling operation out of our kitchen" Tierney seems to have won narrowly, though his opponent has not conceding, citing irregularities at the polls.
The wrestling fortune was not enough to buy the Republicans the Senate seat in Connecticut. Congrats to current state senator and U.S. Senator elect Murphy.
New Hampshire got a Democratic Governor.
Etc.
Congrats to all the winners.
