The Susan Rice thing is on my last nerve.
Edited on Sun Nov-25-12 05:25 PM by No Elephants
Unlike the Norwegian mass murderer about whom formercia posted, I never claimed to be an extremely patient person. And I have had way too much of the Susan Rice discussion.

She is obviously a very smart woman. She is also a relatively conservative and hawkish one, for a Democrat (which I am assuming she is).

Petraeus testified that the CIA report contained a reference to terrorism. (Sorry, I don't recall the exact wording of the reference.) Rice, however, did not mention terrorism when she went on a Sunday talk show or two. However, the President had referred to terrorists the day after our people in Benghazi were killed.

IMO, the administration should have said from the start, "We are investigating and we are not going to give details until the investigation has concluded."

Cops in every city in the country refuse to tip their hands during an investigation. why not the feds, when the stakes are so much higher? The story about the you tube video should never have been discussed. Among other things, concocting that story insults Muslims and deceived voters/taxpayers, neither of which are good things.

The MSNBC pundits are flogging the story that Rice merely conveyed the CIA intelligence. That is false. As stated, the CIA attributed the killings to terrorists from the jump and Rice never referred to terrorism, but did advert to the "spontaneous demonstration" story.

This reminds me very much of Bush using Powell to address the UN about the Iraq WMD intel, only in reverse. (And, of course, the WMD bs had much more serious consequences.) Still, I don't like this whole You Tube/Rice business.

That said, though, McCain and Graham are making a mountain out of a molehill. And who are they, or any Senators, to dictate who the President may or may not nominate? Obama has nominated so damn many Republicans and neoliberals to his administration and not a single liberal. Will the RW Senators not be satisfied until 100% of his nominations are Republican?

The oxygen this has consumed while people are trembling over Social Security and Medicare cuts is insane.

Do they not realize how out of whack their priorities seem to most Americans?

1. You are so right.
About the out of whack priorities.

Is this just an elaborate smoke screen to distract us from the real issue? It wouldn't surprise me in the least. Or, are they trying desperately to weaken the President so he will have cover for caving on all the fiscal issues? Nothing would surprise me in the least.

I know only one thing for absolute certain, they do not have our best interests at heart. Not in the domestic arena nor in foreign policy.
