They used to be called librarians, but the term is now Media Specialist. A good one is worth their weight in gold for all the services they provide to students and teachers. I hear through the grapevine this one is great.

Yet she was marked Needs Improvement. She does not teach students for test-taking. That is not her job.

Kelly Moore, a media specialist at Littlewood Elementary School, works after school on Tuesday.

Kelly Moore has students from all grades pass through her library. As a media specialist at Littlewood Elementary, she does not prepare students for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.

Yet students' performance on the statewide assessment still affected her teacher evaluation for the 2011-2012 school year, which determined she "needs improvement."

"Needs improvement is like an F," she said.

Teachers are becoming fearful of this Value Added Model being pushed throughout the country by both parties.

Many expressed concern about job security, as state law holds that if they are rated unsatisfactory two consecutive years or two out of three years, they may be placed on an annual contract and possibly terminated.

The county superintendent offered teachers an apology for all the stress. He blamed Tallahassee, but VAM is bigger than just Florida.

"This is another half-baked scheme out of Tallahassee affecting the teacher profession," he said.

1. Well, this is an excellent illustration of the problem.
Someone needs improvement, but it's not Kelly Moore.

This Value Added Model has got to go.

2. Perhaps she's a LIBERAL.
I wonder how much of this is politically motivated.

4. The Seven Mountains
..one of which is Education.

There are 7 Mountains of Influence in Culture...

In 1975, Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade, and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With a Mission, had lunch together in Colorado. God simultaneously gave each of these change agents a message to give to the other. During that same time frame Francis Schaeffer was given a similar message. That message was that if we are to impact any nation for Jesus Christ, then we would have to affect the seven spheres, or mountains of society that are the pillars of any society.

These seven mountains are business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family and religion. There are many subgroups under these main categories. About a month later the Lord showed Francis Schaeffer the same thing. In essence, God was telling these three change agents where the battlefield was. It was here where culture would be won or lost. Their assignment was to raise up change agents to scale the mountains and to help a new generation of change agents understand the larger story.

This website is designed to help educate those who wish to become change agents in culture for Christian values and to connect like-minded men and women for a common vision.
