Someone on Need to Know says of family planning and reproductive choice "what used to be known as women's issues."
Sure, a teen female may want the option of abortion. But, what about the teen dad of the same baby? Does he want the obligation to support a child for the next 18 to 22 years? And what about the parents of the two teens?
You know, I can't recall hearing prostate cancer or erectile dysfunction described as a "men's issue."
Either women are chattel and treated as though we are incapable of thinking and behaving like adults, or we have issues that are not simply human issues.
Even if I accept that my husband should govern me and our offspring, someone has to clue me in: what species am I supposed to be that is different from the human species?
And why on earth do people give issues such deceptive names?
Thank God for people who explain thing like this to a childlike woman such as myself. If it weren't for them, how would I ever know that family planning is a "women's issue, not a "family" issue, or simply "an issue?"
This post is not directed at either men or women, but at people. I mean no offense whatever to any man who is not a maroon. For my post is about a maroon issue, not a gender issue. And, I firmly believe that women and men are equally capable of being fools about things like this. Hence, I am an equal opportunity mocker.
