Florida releases teacher evaluation report -- again! Teachers in D, F schools do well. Hmmm

Will this blow the minds of the "reformers" who put all the responsibility on teachers? Will it be taken down again just like the first evaluation report that came out before? Will they actually have to consider that other factors affect test scores, not just teachers?

A vast majority of public school teachers in Northeast Florida are rated as effective or highly effective, a statistic that one local superintendent says is “inconsistent.”

According to a Florida Department of Education report, released Thursday, 94 percent of classroom teachers in Duval, Baker, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns County school districts are at or above par. Out of the 12,041 classroom teachers evaluated, only four teachers were labeled unsatisfactory. Those four are from Duval County Public Schools

...The percentage of teachers rated effective or highly effective at Northeast Florida’s 21 D schools is nearly 92 percent. The percentage of teachers rated effective or highly effective at Northeast Florida’s two F schools, both in Duval, is about 87 percent."

Two days ago the state put up the scores on their website... only to take them down hours later as erroneous.

Florida's Department of Education on Wednesday rolled out the results of a sweeping new teacher evaluation system that is designed to be a more accurate, helpful and data-driven measure of how well teachers actually get students to learn.

And then, within hours of releasing the data, the department pulled the numbers off its website and sheepishly admitted much of it was wrong.

..."The new evaluation system has been stressful for teachers. Even though it appears that the vast majority have been rated as "effective" or "highly effective," many have been downgraded. Critics of the new system said the snafu did not surprise them.

The reformers started out saying that the most important factor in a child's learning is the teacher. They ignored other elements of the child's life. If teachers do well even at schools with poor grades, then someone is wrong about teachers getting all the blame.

It would make me most happy if they have to reconsider.

are considered a pariah by the people of the nation yet these weasels stand in judgment of teachers. Obviously someone very powerful has decided to make teachers the scape goat in all of this. This individual should be drawn and quartered, or something.
