Reportedly, Obama will nominate Republican Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense.

I have mixed feelings about this. Could be worse, I guess.

Apart from anything relevant to Hagel, who is a mixed bag, Obama's nominees for defense so far have been Gates, a Republican and Panetta, a former Republican and now, supposedly, Hagel a Republican.

Clinton also put a Republican in the defense slot.

I hate reinforcing the meme that even a Democrat can't trust Democrats with defense and money (Treasury). One would think that Iraq and the global economic collapse of 2008 (and 1929) would have disproved that meme on both counts.

I don't know if I can ever vote center right again. Ever.
