"obviously not well", "troubled", his mother, "rigid" - comments from shooter's relatives
yet - this lady had some very dangerous firearms in her home around this troubled young man?

What is wrong with those around us who would keep such deadly weapons around someone that his own relatives label, "obviously not well", that they don't see this as a recipe for disaster!

ABC finally showing him from several years ago, provided by a relative.

1. We have so few ways of helping the "disturbed" in order to avoid tragedies.

We are not all that far from the Biblical belief that they must be possessed by demons.

For instance, it is not all that long ago that health insurance companies made people seeking psychiatric or psychological help and their doctors jump through all kinds of hoops for reimbursement that say, a hypochondriac seeking physical treatment did not have to jump through.

And look how mental institutions of only 100 years ago or less were. And now, most of those institutions are gone, as are halfway houses.

Moreover, I don't think even the psychiatrists and psychologists know what to do with people who are that sick. Supposedly, meds will control them, but, often, part of their illnesss is that meds will harm them or take away their special powers or some such and people are trying to hurt them by trying to get them to take their meds. And, they will pretend to take them, but actually pocket them or spit them out when they think no one is looking.

It's tough.
