As you recall, Bob Costas had spoken out about guns after that football player shot his wife and then himself.
And, as happens whenever anyone speaks out about the easy availablity of guns, Costas was excoriated. Among other things, it was supposedly too soon after the incident to discuss our gun culture.
And so, Jon Stewart did a bit on the Daily Show about how gun violence is a daily event in this country so, by that standard, there never is or ever will be the right time to speak out about gun violence. It will always be "too soon" after one event or another.
