NBC's Top Ten Political Events of 2012

Coincidentally, I heard CNN's top 10 list of political bloopers last night and NBC's list of top 10 political events of 20112 is not too much different.

My problem with NBC's version--aside from the notable absence of anything connected to Sandy Hook, like Obama' taking on the NRA, is that it is inside the beltway centered, Republican centered and 2% centered, as opposed to 98% centered.

For example, I very much doubt that Hurricane Sandy affected the Presidential vote in any way, yet it is listed, while a year's worth of Grand Bargaining away Social Security is not. And the pick of Paul Medicare Voucher Ryan for Vice President is listed as the most positive effect on a Presidential ticket since Lyndon Johnson. I'd be ROFLMAOPIMP at how ridiculous that statement is, if this did not affect real lives.

The byline on the story is Mark Murray, but why do I smell Chuck Turd?

You remember Chuck. He is so reluctant to say "Democratic" ever that he actually pretended that the name of Thomas Jefferson's political party was "the Democrat-Republican Party"--and while purporting to inform his viewers about history, no less.

1. Chuck Todd is just miserable.

Yeah, how can they possibly suggest Ryan helped Romney?

See, they are touting the "official narrative" even though it is obviously false. Those in the media are so on board with the we must cut entitlements meme. We will not hear a contrary word from the $mainstream$ media. I guess this gives President Obama cover. Maybe they believe the people will forgive the President because those bad ol' Republicans made him do it. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have an objective media? I guess we will never know what that is like. They hate us for our freedom(s), lol.

2. Ryan is highly likely to run for President, so they want him enhanced in advance.

And they are quite prepared to do the enhancing.

Palin was too easy a target, so they did not bother with her. Or, rather, they buried her deeper, starting with "leaks" from the failed McPain campaign. (Who only proved that they did not care diddly about the country, since they sure had done their best to silk purse her while they thought they had a chance of foisting her on the nation, a heartbeat away from an older President.)

As far as entitlements, I have noticed, as many have, that Presidents in the last few decades seem to take turns. The Democrat does what, in the past, we might have expected from a Republican President and vice versa. Reagan signs several tax increases.

Bush, Sr. signs a tax increase and starts the first Iraq War.

Clinton does NAFTA and repeal of Glass Steagall and "ended welfare as we know it."

Dummya invades Afghanistan and Iraq and does Part D Medicare.

Both Dummya and, oddly, President Elect Obama, okay TARP.

Obama pledges "entitlement" "reform" before he's even sworn in. (Also campaigns with his pastor in tow, has a neo theo basher of homosexuals give the invocation at his inauguration and expands faith based intiatives, but all that is looking like pretty small potatoes now.)

Is this coordinated in any kind of formal way, beyond the usual campaign donations? I don't know and I am not sure if knowing matters. For me, knowing the pattern is there suffices.

Back to the media. I don't know if we ever had an objective media, though some outlets were certainly more respected and trusted than others and at least gave the appearance of objectivity. However, we had more than one voice. According to the Supreme Court, that is what the First Amendment is about--a marketplace of ideas that compete with each other for our attention, our approval and our votes.

Now, the MSM shelves get stocked with only the store brand.

3. yes, I read that, and thought, what is with half of these!?

and those primary debates being in the top 10, whateva! and the Ryan VP pick, oh my goodness, they made it sound like it was a positive!?!? Turd showed he's a hack when he mentioned that old party name and said Democrat and left "ic" off of its name. He's a turd. You are correct. Same network that employs the dense son of the former MTP host, Russert, so, not shocking they do their best to arse kiss TPTB!

4. As to Russert, it may be guilt. By all accounts, Tim did the work of about ten people.

At network news, I imagine that is a lot of stress, and also left little time for things like exercise and practicing good nutrition, instead of fast food.

Several people--and their respective staffs--now perform the functions he did all by his lonesome. They may feel that they worked him to death, that he saved them tons of money while alive and they now owe his son. Or not. I'm just speculating. But, I don't think Luke would have gotten any on camera gigs at NBC or MSNBC right out of college without Tim.

With a thick Massachusetts accent, "Todd" and "Toad' sound a lot alike. :evilgrin:

The sad thing is, I read somewhere that Toad is considered the second or third most influential newspersons in the country. Says a lot about the collective intelligence of a lot of the country, doesn't it?

And most of those that don't be stoopid, be evil. Stoopid or evil or stoopid AND evil.
