Happy Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa begins on December 26 and ends January 1.

The Seven Principles of Kwanzaa are

Unity

Self-Determination

Collective Work and Responsiblity

Cooperative Economics

Purpose

Creativity

Faith.

Each is explained a bit further here: http://www.officialkwanzaawebsite.org/NguzoSaba.shtml

According to the creator of Kwanzaa, the theme for 2012 is Kwanzaa, Us and the Well-Being of the World. http://www.officialkwanzaawebsite.org/index.shtml

Ambitious theme.

The Kwanzaa symbol now appears on at least four currencies. In Kwanzaa We Trust?

Whatever you celebrate, I wish you peace, better health and happiness.

2. LOL. When I was a kid, the airing of grievances was celebrated by my
extended family on my father's side pretty much 24/7.

Unfortunately, they and we all lived in the same apartment complex and we all saw each other a lot. At all other times, my father took up the slack, airing his grievances against them, his dead relatives and my mother.

The only thing that saved it--he was pretty funny about it, when he wanted to be. It was like living with a very bitter, but dead on, stand up comic, throwing out one zinger after another. When he wanted to be funny.

The rest of the time, not so much.
