Benghazi.
This whole Benghazi thing has been so overblown, it's ludicrous.
Apparently, McCain still can't get over losing the 2008 election, though, apparently, he got over the Rovian racist rumor, spread during the 2000 primary that he had fathered an interracial child.
Meh, what's a low and racist blow against your adopted daughter? Easy to get over.
2000 was his now-or-never-moment. He let it go to his detriment.
Plus, he made so many mistakes in 2008, his campaign was like a bad sitcom. Or several pretty danged good SNL skits, doncha know?
Actually, I don't believe this was about McCain's getting back at Rice for her 2008 comments about him. I believe the Republican goal, as soon as Hillary announced her intention to serve only one term, was to get Kerry as Secretary of State so that they could try to put a Republican in his place in a special election, to repeat the Brown experience. It's long been known that Kerry wanted to be Secretary of State. And, when Scott Brown lost to Warren, they doubled down on that goal.
The night Brown lost to Warren, he told the citizens of Massachusetts that he would be back. Now, how did he know that in early November?
Brown dropped several hints about his future on Election Night. One was in his concession speech: “There are no obstacles you can’t overcome, and defeat is only temporary,” he said.
The cheering dissolved into chants of “Go, Scott, Go.” After the speech, when he greeted supporters, he told many of them, “I’ll be back.” But when asked directly about his plans, he shrugged off suggestions of running for office again.
“Listen, I’m not even worrying about that,” he said. “I’m going to have a couple of Coca-Cola’s with people and relax.”

(One news reporter was screaming and literally jumping up and down for joy ON CAMERA when he gave his victory speech in the first special election. What an embarrassment for the news department of a TV station. I wonder if the network picked that up?)
