Mark "Appalachian Trail' Sanford wants to run for Congress again.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/01/18/sanford-seeks-forgiveness-in-return-to-political-life/?hpt=hp_t3

In fairness, he is a member of a group of politicians who believe God has called them to lead the nation and also that God does not apply to them the rules that apply to everyone else.

You know, like how King David tried to get Bathsheba's husband killed in battle so he had a clear field for an affair with her. Yet, Jesus was "of the house and lineage of David."

The lineage bit seems a bit odd, given that the Bible traces David's lineage to Joseph, who was not the baby daddy. But, whatever, it was a big honor to a murderous adulterer. So, members of The Family are entitled to lead no matter what.

Tell that to John Ensign, though.

As we all know, Sanford's dalliance affected his job performance, given that he went incommunicado for several days, while a Governor should always be reachable in the event of an emergency. At least Bill Clinton had the grace to conduct foreign relations over the phone while getting a blow job.

Speaking of whom, Hillary used to attend gatherings of The Family. Creepy, wot?

Can you say "FUBAR?"

In one of life's little twists, Sanford's former wife almost announced for the Republican primary race, too. However, she decided against it.

1. You said, dalliance. Heh heh.
John Ensign is just slime personified. All the Republican sexcapade guys just creep me out. They are quite a cast of characters. Our side seems somehow more "normal", with the exception of Weiner.

2. I said "foreign relations," too. Candidly, I have no idea why you find Republican sexcapades
creepier than those of Democrats.

I've never rid myself of the image of Lewinsky lying on the rug of the Oval Office getting penetrated by a cigar. Or his gubernatorial bodyguards bringing Paula Jones to his room for a look at his free willie. Or his banging Genifer Flowers in the john of the Governor's Mansion while an official party was in progress.

And recently we learned that, of all the rooms in the White House where JFK could have done his young intern, he chose the bed here he and his wife slept and then had the girl bathe in the john he shared with his wife. Not to mention that he asked her to give blow jobs to his brother (she did) and to his aide (she didn't). And, we've already heard how he was no where to be found while she was miscarrying.

Not sure why Sanford's deciding he'd found his real soul mater was any creepier than all of that.

Maybe I see it from the perspective of the women in those stories, both the wife and mistress. I've been told I am overly empathetic. Than again, I condiered the person who told me that totally selfish, though I had the grace to keep that assessment to myself. However, in my New Age phase, a psychic told me the same thing.
