High school senior identifies as 'LGBT teen' while accepting award for Class Actor
:applause: He came out to a standing ovation!

"Let's count the wonderful moments in this video:

1.) While many people are scared of merely speaking in public, high school senior Jacob Rudolph took the opportunity to come out in front of hundreds of his classmates after he was named "Class Actor." He identifies himself as an "LGBT teen," and says he is tired of acting like someone he is not.

2.) The moment was filmed by his father, Jonathan Rudolph, who added the following preface: "In front of a crowd of 300+ high school students, as well has parents and teachers, Jacob said something in his acceptance speech that took more guts to do than anything I've ever attempted in my life."

3.) After Jacob's speech, his classmates erupt into enthusiastic applause. As Rudolph's father writes, "They clearly approve."

4.) "Take me or leave me, move me out of the way. Because I am who I am, and that's how I am going to act from now on."

3. Starting? They've hated it since at least FDR.
I remember Ben Stein explaining (supposedly) why he became a Republican.

He said it was because liberals always seemed unhappy to him, while conservatives were always smiling and happy.

I wondered what planet he had grown up on.

Because, when I was growing up, everyone with any sense of humor worth the name, professional or amateur, was not only Democratic, but liberal. Every hear Republican stand up? Not all that funny, but mean.

Anyway, they focus on flags and the symbols of patriotism, which is an easy thing to do, but they don't want to contribute a quarter to their country no matter what kind of straits it is in at the moment. As Obama pointed out, they voted against veteran's benefits (and repairs to Walter Reed, which he did not mention). They've waved the flag and worn flag clothing, but they ducked the draft and begrudge every penny of tax they have to pay for the common good. They pointed fingers at Democrats for burning draft cards, while they quietly got deferments.

Please, most of them would not know patriotism from jingoism if it hit them upside the head.

5. You are right, of course.
Ben Stein, lol. I did appreciate him in his role in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Then there is this;

"Conservative" comedians fail miserably.

2. It's a much nicer, and real life, variation on the film "In and Out."
I am glad it worked out well, but, unless he polled the faculty and all 300+ students in advance, he had no way of knowing that.

I think back to high school, when having a bad hair day was the end of the world as most teenagers knew it.

That is mind boggling courage. Especially if he feels acting is his calling.

Imagine what this teen can do now with that kind of bravery.

4. That movie deserved far more recognition than it received.
Funny! Today it would be received far more enthusiastically.

6. yes, it would be a bigger hit for sure. I was told to watch it by my pastor & his wife because they
said it was so well done and funny, and these are the same people that told me Tootsie was incredible, so I got it and wow, was it ever funny! Everyone was great in it. "IS EVERYBODY GAY!"
