Through the Looking Glass
Edited on Wed Feb-06-13 06:46 AM by No Elephants
In a segment aired on my local news statio this morning, NBC's Tracie Potter was reporting on the drone strike flap stirred by the D of J memo. She said something about how "even some Democrats" were unhappy about drone strikes.

Hello. Democrats have been the ones questioning stuff like this since at least Vietnam.

Clearly, in Potter's mind as well, we are supposed to be totally without principle. We are supposed simply to criticize everything a Republican does (unless, I guess, Obama has nominated him or her to the Administration), but are supposed to say "IOKIADDI" when a Democratic is responsible. (It's o.k. if a Democrat does it.)

Fuck that. I am a Democrat with Democratic principles, not an Obamacrat.

And, if I cannot be both principled anda Democrat, I will keep my principles.

1. Well, yes.
The TV narrative is ridiculous. NBC and Tracie Potter are completely useless as an information source. But they are pretty good as a misinformation source.

I see exactly what you are saying. And I am with you. Either the Democratic Party will remain separated from the GOP by principled behavior or I will no longer think of myself as a Democrat. It grows more difficult every day. The hour is growing late.

2. I may consider myself a Democrat, but wonder where my Party went without me.
I have a feeling that may have been what happened to Nader.
