What the hell was President Wilson thinking, when he appointed a Baruch, a Wall broker, not a military expert, to help the U.S. gear up for WWI?

3. In 1916 I would have voted Hughes

Had the Democrats (probably) not stole California Hughes would have been President. Wilson was a racist and Hughes was the choice of Teddy Roosevelt.
Also, had Hughes won it might have ended the Electoral College as Hughes got only about 40% of the popular vote

1916 was still close enough to 1893 that racists within the Democratic Party and its kissin cousin, Dixiecrats, would have been common.

Martin Luther King, Sr., for example, did not switch until JFK helped get his son out of jail.

Incredibly, Senator Brooke, the first African American Senator post Reconstruction era (Massachusetts, of course), claimed within the past few year that he had run as a Republican in 1965 without realizing that things had changed between the Parties since Lincoln. (If he was that out of touch, he shouldn't have been Senator of his high school, ffs.)

Some mistakes that I make only reflect badly on my typing. But some mistakes that I make render it impossible for anyone to get what I am saying. I wish that I could avoid the latter.
