Awww. A real life "The Notebook."
Norman Hendrickson was overseas with the U.S. Army when he met Gwen, who was serving in the British Royal Air Force. She immigrated to the U.S. and they were married in May 1947.

They were married 66 years. Each would joke about not leaving the other behind.

After Gwendoline passed away, one of their children overhead their father say aloud to her, "We have had a good long life together. I love you. I'll miss you and watch for me."

On the way to Gwendoline's funeral, Norman passed away, just a few steps from the door. Their children buried them together.

Awww.

2. When Ryan Gosling had about three movies in theaters at once, I
Edited on Fri Feb-22-13 09:59 PM by No Elephants
I saw The Notebook for the first time on TV and I got why he was in three fairly good movies at once.

The Notebook is everything that is wrong with chick flicks. Mushy, sentimental, manipulative of emotions, etc.

But, once you view it start to finish, it owns you, if you are a romantic. It is the most "awww" movie ever. I think even Matt Lauer said he cried.

Every time after that, when some guy says, "I don't get the whole Ryan Gosling thing," my reply is, "Did you see The Notebook?"

As cynical as I am, I think everyone wants to believe in love that strong.

Glad you and your bride do.
