1. Internet manipulators.
It's a widespread phenomenon. You ain't seen nothing yet.

When I read DU3, I cannot believe my eyes. Posters there are blatantly defending what are tradition Republican positions. It is incredible.

3. It's O.K. if Obama does it. and It's O.K. if any DINO does it.
Unless, of course, the DINO is opposing Obama.

In that case, it's time for the guillotine.

I've been checking on you, just not posting.

10. incredible, indeed.
I won't post on any other thread here for now. Let's see if the hundreds of threads just mysteriously reappear. Maybe they're working on something, and it will correct itself. I'm not holding my breath...

at the waste of my time.

I don't know what happened. Somehow "convincing" the board that it was February could have been just an accidental glitch.

On the other hand, if anyone wanted to discourage further posting here, deleting posts people had spent their time on would be a good way to do that.

16. well, I see they haven't returned yet, so I'm not feeling too confident they ever will.
I hope you're doing well. I will just keep posting on the wtf thread from time to time, lol... I am feeling better today, finally. Ugh.. what a horrible virus. It must have found its way onto DU2 and wiped out hundreds of your threads! har... but seriously, I am upset those awesome informational threads you made, and the occasional thread from the half dozen of us who post regularly were wiped out. I realize it's not a supported site, of course, and its fortunate that it's even working, but still, that sucks. Anyhow, perhaps shifting over to the other place, like you said, is a good idea?

2. Seems to confirm my decision to stop posting new threads here.
Edited on Tue May-07-13 05:07 AM by No Elephants

I had been leaving my inbox, my sent folder, etc. very clean, via deleting things.

This morning, everything was back in there.

Too bad. I had wanted to copy the threads I was starting around the first of each month about notable days in that month I rather liked my posts on those and the responses, too. I guess I could still unearth the February thread though. Maybe tomorrow.

See, procratination is a bug (my apologies to any members of the insect community who took offense at that).

“Time is vicious when taken for granted.” Warren Beatty, as Bugsy Siegel, in the movie Bugsy

BTW, moderation at firedoglake is very light, as best as I can tell. No hosts, either.

And, like DU2 and DU3, there is a liberal contingent and a contingent of "I support Democratic politicians, even if they do legislate like war-mongering, fiscally conservative Republicans."

The replication of the two factions there is not surprising, given that, as best I can tell, that is pretty much how the Party and/or the left is divided.

So, it's a lot like "home," only with freer speech. Just sayin'

7. Nothing is ever really deleted on the Internet.
It's safest to assume that whatever you post, whatever you type, whatever you view or buy, all become a permanent record somewhere and all are retrievable.

It's really frightening.

8.  It is frightening. I tend to delete a lot because clutter gets to me, even internet clutter.
I just searched my email for my cousin's name because I knew that she sent me an email yesterday that my eyes were just not finding in my inbox. To my surprise, up popped many, many emails between us that I had deleted over the years.

wish I knew how to find my threads on March and April, though. If I can't find something in my own email inbox, just imagine how much trouble I would have finding stuff "somewhere" on the internet.

Another post like that and I just may have to come down to Florida and plant a big smooch on your check.

Stay well (and wonderful), my friend.

14. I once had a GeoCities page.
I had stopped updating it a couple years before it shut down and I moved to video blogs. Yet, my current stats tracker now and then shows referrals from my old GeoCities pages, though they're located in different countries.

15. hey bikebloke, I had no idea that GeoCities still existed in other countries.
I had an old page for family pictures and info that I worked on. And hated when it closed down because of all the work I put into it. So, there are countries where it's still active? I had no idea. Is there a way to see my old pages by putting the country's net designation after the old address or something? .uk .jp, etc..

:hi:
