1. I know exactly what you mean.

I have happy memories of childhood Memorial Day celebrations.

My dad, a WWII veteran, was always in our small community parade. Now, after these faked up wars I have little sense of patriotic duty and sacrifice at the behest of criminals-war profiteers. Evil Darth Cheney and lying cock-sure Rumsfeld.

These are the fuckers that destroyed my nation. Millions of us feel that way now.

2. A day for remembrance of the dead is not a cheerful occasion, even if it

is part of a three-day weekend and has become synonymous with barbecue.

Way too mamy who did not get to live out a life, way too much grief for their survivors, to wish a viewing audience a "happy" memorial day.

It is a day to observe, commemorate, reflect. And for far too many, a day to weep and mourn a loved one who was lost much too young.


A Bostonian of 92 today was crying, mourning his fellow soldiers.
