Full Strawberry Moon (or Rose Moon)
Edited on Sun Jun-23-13 12:59 PM by No Elephants
If you can walk, even slowly (a) be grateful and (b) take a stroll tonight with someone whose company you enjoy. Maybe have a strawberry ice or a slice of strawberry short cake al fresco, if you can.

June Moon Spoon Tune Boon Dune Rune--all perfect for tonight "Loon," too, if it's the kind that flies.

Pink Moon by Nicholas Drake (more melancholy than the occasion, but the title is kind of perfect for tonight.)

Pink Moon covered by Beck

Almost as perfect: Moondance, Van Morrison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVYHSi3HQNg

Fly Me to the Moon, Sinatra http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmYlCOImIng 1969, dedicated to the astronauts who had just made the first moon landing

This seems like an older version. It's less strong, but I think I like it better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmYlCOImIng

3. Awesome!
Incredible!

I had not heard either tune for years and years. I especially love the Van Morrison. But I am a huge Sinatra fan.

4. "But I am a huge Sinatra fan."
A friend was taking me out to eat at one of her favorite spots on "the north shore". (The way that Bostonians refer collectively to towns on the sea north of Boston).

While driving there, she informed me, "If you don't love their fried clams, you don't know what's good."

In that same vein, anyone who is not a huge Sinatra fan doesn't know what's good.

Billie Holliday either. Alas, she was deceased when i first heard one of her records, so it was bittersweet.

Sound is not great on this, but....

Angel of Harlem (U2's tribute to Billie Holliday) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biNvjeHYGt8

Sound is not great on that either. Sorry. You Tube has its auditory limits.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the Billie Holliday clips to play. But I love her. My system is flawed. Or, maybe it's my ISP.

Around a year ago my computer guy took his own life. He was one sweetheart of a fella too. We had shared many beers together. One night we rode around looking for deer along the thousands of miles of gravel roads here drinking beer and listening to music. It took to early AM till we finally found them eating acorns in the gravel under an overhanging oak tree. We shared a passion for music, deer hunting and beer.

I enjoyed the U2 and R.E.M. It's funny how we forget until we hear a certain song.

7. Music is the only time machine so far that actually works.
Listening to certain songs, I am in elementary school again.

Or with my aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom are still alive, on New Year's Day, while my cousin blares the year's top songs to the whole neighborhood. (Why the police never got called, I will never know. Maybe because my cousin was otherwise such an incredibly good kid.)

And so on.
