My Little Pony Fans Discuss the Impending War in Syria
Just thought I would let you know that Syrian hackers are desperately trying to sway the brony community.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023559919

I still haven't posted my epic post on the warrantless spying scandal on DU3, here's why: because

a) I was worried that I'd get trashed by the mushy middle,
-- but it seems a lot of outspoken progressives have returned to DU3 of late.

b) I was worried it would get deleted because there's so many graphics I basically had to
-- scan an entire WaPo special edition on the nat'l security complex from two years ago --
-- although it's probably no longer available, or if it is, it's free, so it's good.

c) because I was feeling depressed: (warning: sad pic)

what with all the other projects I was working on that I was telling you about being on hold
because of not hearing back from people in real life when you need to hear back from them by.

1. LEO! So glad to see yo!
(Almost a rhyme)

I am sorry that you are feeling sad.

Does this help?

Glad your brony post got some nice replies on DU3.

I am not sure, but I think it's getting more leftist there?

Although, I once saw there a post claiming that accusing Sec. of Defense Hagel of being anti-gay was--wait for it--a RW talking point.

2. I updated the thread with more Syria text. I finally finished reading it and... whoa
The pony thread about Syria which I reposted on DU3, that is.

Go back and look at it -- there's a lot more text there now.

I'll get back on here as soon as I finally do that national security issues post I promised to post on DU3 back in July!!

I just haven't been on DU much, is all. But I have much interesting stuff to talk about...

Including on the brony front because I went to the national brony convention.

3. PS- yes I think some of the progressives are coming back because of outrage over the Snowden etc.
I feel less afraid to post about it now...

My post was gonna be titled "Told you So" back in July and I suspect I would have gotten thoroughly flamed then.

It has lots of article links and scans of old WaPo stuff so I spent a lot of time on it back then.

7. "Told you so" is rarely received well from any poster anywhere on any subject.
It's so tempting, though, especially when you can google your prior DU posts as proof.

10. That's why I never did post it as originally written in early July.
Well, that and it involved a lot of 'capping old articles and the preview crashed on me while I was still writing it over a multi-hour period... old computer and all that. I retrieved the post but decided to work on it some more before posting it and see what others were saying, and that's when I discovered the rash of pro-wiretapping and really rather conservative Dems that came out to trash posters to the right of me, much less to the left of me, and reflexively defend the Administration's actions... it doesn't help that "progressive talk" hosts have all geared themselves to be partisan Democrats and not progressives, except for KO who got thrown under the bus... while all the progressive (and Occupy friendly) folks seemed to fade into the woodwork (probably too disappointed and frustrated, like me) until I came back. (And I hadn't been back long before coming here)

I think now people are coming back because they realize that the average American they meet on the streets is angrier about some of these issues than the conservative Dems are, so why be afraid to speak? After all that's why the Admin feels compelled to keep the issue alive by defending against the steady leak of information.

8. BTW, the Greeks had a myth about Sybil.
I don't recall all the detail, but she was given the gift of prophesy but also cursed in that no one would believe her when she prophesied.

She was so shunned that, eventually, she became nothing but a voice, whereupon, they imprisoned her in a jar and closed the lid.

My own interpretation is that she not only prophesied, but kept saying "I told you so."

I think about Sybil every time I google one of my old DU threads for the purpose of showing that "I told you so."

11. The Greeks sure loved unrequited prophets and trapping people in jars, didn't they?

They've done both of those things multiple times over in ancient days, although I suspect it's just a retelling of the classic myth.

5. Feel free to reply to it if you're on DU3 because (I don't think No Elephants is)
It's already fallen off, and there was actually a lot of interesting comments about Syria in the reposted thread.

9. Did you count the views, or only the replies?
BTW, threads at DU quickly become too old to focus on, especially for a re-visit, because there are new threads all the time.

Anyway, don't take it personally, sweet Leo.

12. Not a lot of people probably saw the updated version, everything moves so fast there now
Even popular thread subjects die the minute the two people flaming each other the most go to bed for the night.

Too bad because it has some interesting content, of course.

But even fewer would have reached the end of the page if I'd posted the whole thing to begin with, come to think.

DU3's editing looseness means I can go back and remove the excess screencaps if it's too much off of another site
and nopony bothered to read.

13. Heh. *no comment.jpg*

So you think those people are too wierd / off topic for DU3? I think they're quite well-informed, if a bit apathetic.

That's the problem with bronies, they are all over the map politically.

14. PS -- I just remembered did you say you have poor vision? ;-(
I also just realized that probably most people with small monitors can't read the thread because DU3 auto-resizes images.

of your screen cap at DU3 is hard for me.

On DU2, the large type option is available to me.

Anyway, I did skim your screen cap, so I got a general idea.

I don't know many who have the stomach for more war.

That is very polite indeed!
