Ah, Syria
A while back, I posted that I could not bear to post about the slaughter in Syria anymore and I stopped.

Well, life being what it is, I am moved to post about Syria again because, well, you know.

Supposedly, the US knew about the chemical attack three days before it happened, yet did nothing to notify the Syrian people.

http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2013/08/30/us_had_intel_on_chemical_strike_before_it_was_launched

The article talks about notifying the opposition, but who knows what the opposition would have done with the info. I would have blown up the internet and broadcast media with the news. Maybe that would even have staved off the attack?

Then again, internet communications can be blocked; and it seems that may have happened in Aleppo, Syria's largest city?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2013/08/30/syrias-largest-city-just-dropped-off-the-internet/

Can't get you the link right now, but another story says the rebels* fessed up to the chemical attack, claiming the Saudis supplied them.

Oy. in this world, who can figure out who is lying and who is giving us the real skinny, especially when incentive to lie is high for many sides? Not I, that's for sure.

1. Yeah. How can we know who is lying.
Little Georgie Dubya cried wolf. He destroyed the credibility of the nation. Vietnam was bad enough but he had to do it again in the 21st Century.

The real problem is the lack of an adequate enemy for the US. This was difficult enough during the cold war when we overstated the size of the Soviet threat.

The Neo-Con chickenhawk war profiteers have no justification for the size and mission of the overbloated US military and intelligence apparatus. The real threat is to their profit. So this is their pathetic attempt to justify it by creating another boogie man.

2. Aka, the D of D don't need no stinkin' sequester?
Only seniors, the disabled, the widows and orphans and the very sick need a sequester.

"Grand" bargain, my ass?

Is that what you're trying to tell me, Enthusiast?

Question: Why doesn;t the US seem to mind what we once called Red China as much as it seemed to mind what we once called Communist Russia?

Is it because of offshoring?
