A while back, I posted that I could not bear to post about the slaughter in Syria anymore and I stopped.
Well, life being what it is, I am moved to post about Syria again because, well, you know.
Supposedly, the US knew about the chemical attack three days before it happened, yet did nothing to notify the Syrian people.
http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2013/08/30/us_had_intel_on_chemical_strike_before_it_was_launchedThe article talks about notifying the opposition, but who knows what the opposition would have done with the info. I would have blown up the internet and broadcast media with the news. Maybe that would even have staved off the attack?
Then again, internet communications can be blocked; and it seems that may have happened in Aleppo, Syria's largest city?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2013/08/30/syrias-largest-city-just-dropped-off-the-internet/Can't get you the link right now, but another story says the rebels* fessed up to the chemical attack, claiming the Saudis supplied them.
Oy. in this world, who can figure out who is lying and who is giving us the real skinny, especially when incentive to lie is high for many sides? Not I, that's for sure.
