is as counterproductive as watering your lawn during a torrential downpour. Nonetheless, I emailed the WH, Warren, Markey and Lynch.
Then, I made the mistake of trying to call Lynch, Markey and Warren (in that order).
The call to Lynch's office was relatively uneventful.
The call to Markey's office was bizarre. The man who answered seemed to be unsure whose phone he was answering. It sounded as though I had reached an answering service, and not a very competent one at that.
He asked me how to spell my first name, which is not an unusual name, and my last name. He also asked me to spell the name of my street, which is a very common word in the English language.
All three times, he had difficulting getting it right, even though I was pronouncing every letter carefully. I knew that because he would talk over me every two or three letters and say the letters back to me, instead of just letting me finish spelling the word. And he was getting them wrong. Talking over me wasn't helping him, either.
After spending an inordinate amount of time trying to make sure he had everything right, I would bet money that he botched all three names badly. Good thing I don't think my message matters in the least. (Clearly, it doesn't, or someone more competent would be answering the phone.)
On to Warren's office. At about 2:45 in the afternoon on a weekday, no one answered. After a considerable number of rings, I got a recording, instructing me which message to leave in order to get a return call. However, after some ringing, I got another recording telling me the mailbox was full, so I could not leave any message at all. However, I could go to an alternate mailbox. I tried that, but it then kicked me back to the original message, following again by the info that the mailbox was full. However, I could go to an alternate mailbox. (I had the same kind of difficulty getting through to Warren's campaign office when she was campaigning against Brown.)
Even though I believe with all my heart that all three calls were totally useless, I did not bother to call the WH. Clearly, Obama intends to bomb Syria, no matter what. So, why put some poor staffer through all that trouble? Besides, I had already sent him an email, which I am sure no one will bother to read.
