Mamma Mia!
Lawrence O'Donnell starts his show by asking why Assad would use chemical weapons.

Good Question!

Next, O'Donnell tells us to assume "for the moment" that Assad was the one who used the chemical weapons.

Sure, let's assume away the most important point in the decision to bomb Syria.

Then O'Donnell tells us that it's hard to understand why Assad would use chemical weapons "unless, unless" --wait for it--

you've read a book called The Dictator's Handbook.

He then goes on to assure us that it is a real book.

Oh, good. I was worried O'Donnell was going to try to make a case for bombing Syria based on an imaginary book.

But, hey as long as the book actually exists, O'Donnell's case is probably air tight, :sarcasm:

The O'Donnell tells us that this non-imaginary book tells us how dictators think.

Well, Grimm's Fairy Tales is a real book, too. You can touch it, read it, drop it on the floor, anything.

But it's some cute shit the Brothers Grimm or someone else made up. You don't bomb living people based on it.

Lawrence O"Donnell then went on to tell us about the silly things politicians say about the war. Good grief.

1. If, you, too, want to know how every dictator, past or present on the face of the earth thinks
http://www.dictatorshandbook.net/

Because, of course, co-authors, the Brothers Grimm Bruce Bueno de Mesquita Alastair Smith can tell you, neither of them ever having been a dictator. Not only how dictators behave, mind you, but how they think, each and every last one of them, including dictators from cultures they know little to nothing about.

And, look, one of Clinton's directors of the CIA and the Wall St. Journal both gave it a good review.

Well, hell, I'd drop bombs based on this book and I think everyone should.

BTW, I think the conclusion on O'Donnell's show was that he was sending a message to his own people.

See what happens when you let Western Union go out of the business of sending messages?

Assad has to use chemical weapons to send a message to his people, whom he's been shooting at for almost two years.

Then, Obama has to bomb Assad's people in order to send a message to Assad.

Why, o why, did we not bail out Western Union's message business?

2. I get the impression that O'Donnell and the rest
of the MSNBC crew don't like the smell of this Syria thing. But they value their jobs. And they are pretty good jobs, in my mind, irreplaceable jobs.

Not all dictators think and act alike. Duh. But self preservation is foremost in any dictator's mind. No dictator has ever faced a threat like today's US military and lived to tell about it. Assad is perfectly aware that any conflict with the US is a no-win for him. I would bet that he didn't use chemical weapons. He can't be that stupid.

3. Yep. Of all the possible culprits who may have used chemicals,
he's just about the only one I can rule out.

Then again, I don't know what slam dunk scrubbed intel they claim to have that Assad is the one.
