The Last Liberal, a review by Cuomo of a book about Speaker Tip O'Neill, published in 2001.
http://www.nytimes.com/books/01/03/11/reviews/010311.11cuomot.html(The title of the book Cuomo was reviewing is the considerably less sensational
Tip O'Neill and the Democratic Century.)
Born in 1932 and the son of an Italian immigrant, I do not believe that Mario Cuomo would ever have become Governor in formerly patrician politics, had it not been for liberals of both parties.
Was the title of the review wishful thinking on the part of Cuomo, or was Cuomo trying to tell us something, for our own good? Or was the title of the article written by someone else to be attention-getting? (Sometimes, the layout person or copy editor writes the headlines.)
Don't suppose we'll ever know. So, no point to make, other than I found it intriguing from a 3 time Democratic Governor of NY whose son seems to aspire to a Democratic Presidential nomination some day.
