Lots of sharp differences between Republicans and Democrats.

Democrats have a very different base than do Republicans and very different big donors and bundlers than do Republicans (think unions, gays and Emily's List, for just some example) and therefore must, for their own survival, behave differently than do Republicans.

Most, but not all, Democrats are for a woman's reproductive choice, to a degree.

Most, but not all, Republicans are anti-choice.

Most, but not all, Democrats are for equal rights for members of the gay community, to a degree (and not very vocal about transgenders or transvestite, so who knows? They seem to pretend they don't exist.)

Most, but not all, Republicans oppose equal rights for members of the gay community.

Regardless of their position on reproductive choice and equal rights for gays, Democrats say fewer crazy-sounding things about those issues and other issues than do Republicans.

Are Democrats much more vigorously pro-union and pro-worker than Republicans?

Comfortable shoes? EFCA? Visas? Off-shoring? Jobs bills? TPP? Bail out and settle with wrongdoing banks, and leave those foreclosed on twisting in the wind?

Maybe. Certainly, Democrats supported a relatively modest increase in the minimum wage, while Republicans did not.

But, I get the feeling that both Republicans and Democrats would love me to worry less about things like environment, the economy and justice for the 99% when I think of politics and focus more on things like choice and gays.

1. Democrats are better.

But how hard is it to be better than a horrible far right wing party represented by idiots spewing their objectives of greed, cruelty and intolerance.

2. Better on social issues, yes.

If they are better on economic issues, it's only because of the Democratic base, IMO.

NAFTA, Gramm, Leach, Blilely, TPP. Not good. None of it.

In fact, they've been backpedaling on social issues, too. Luckily, one in six of Obama's bundlers was gay, which, IMO, explains why Obama came out in favor of gay marriage before his re-election campaign. I think the bundlers were prepared to stand down unless he did.

And, to the extent that DOMA is no longer the law of the land (the extent is unclear), it's because of Justice Kennedy, not any Democrat. A court (though not the SCOTUS) also struck down the Obama attempt to restrict access to the morning after pill.

But, I assume all that has been discussed ad nauseum on DU3.

And, apparently, we're doomed anyway, even if TPP never gets signed (which it will).

So, I don't really know what I'm worried about, anyway.
