Why is the head of the FBI given the prefix "Honorable?"

If you're wondering why this came to me, I am watching C-Span as he is testifying with a big sign on the screen in front of him saying "Hon. James Comey." He is saying the sequester is hurting the ability of the FBI to operate, thereby making it a little harder for me to hate the sequester.

If any of these snooper agencies had actually done their jobs, 911 and Boston both would have been averted.

I think we should use only Constitutional and military titles, or ordinary titles, like Mr and Ms. Director Comey or Mr. Comey should be sufficient.

Enough of these people trying to impress us that they are above us. Enough of them bestowing favors and honors on each other and on themselves.

Was J. Edgar Hoover, honorable? Violating the 4th amendment to spy on people so he could blackmail Presidents, Senators and others? (Now, we're all getting that treatment. Flattered?) And still calling the head of the FBI "Honorable?" What a joke.

Okay, now the head of the Counterterrorism bureau, which focuses on state and local government "customers" is testifying and his prefix is also "Honorable." Another joke.

Meanwhile the Coburn turd wants to put into into any cyber bill our 9% Congress may pass a provision insulating private entities from any liability for snitching to the government on us. Anyone who thinks we still have a Fourth Amendment has to be too delusional for words. And that is not the only provision of the Bill of Rights that's gone AWOL, either. Basically, at this point, we have whatever provisions of the Bill of Rights and the 14 Amendment that the USG chooses not to take from us.
