A city this cool really deserves a much better mayor (no, I am not talking about Boston).

Some people were born to live in the suburbs. Some were born to live in rural areas. Some, like me, were born to appreciate farms, forests, tiny seaside villages, etc., but to live in cities.

I have been to several of the world's great tourist cities.

When I visited Toronto, though, it did not strike me as a great city in which to be a tourist. It did strike me as a fantastic city in which to live.

The shopping was wonderful, as was the food, even at reasonably-priced restaurants and the many attractions in the city that would entertain both children and adults.

It really deserves a Mayor who behaves to the standard of a world-class city like the one shown in the photo at this link (photo is part of a National Geographic article on great winter trips and refuses to reproduce in this post for some reason).

Then, again, if it re-elects Rob Ford, who says he will run again, maybe it doesn't deserve a better mayor after all. We'll know in 2014.

1. I've been through through Toronto three times.

The first time, I was traveling with my brother to our ultimate fishing destination on the Georgian Bay. We hit Toronto during the rush hour -my poor planning. We had a car-top boat in the pickup bed. It seems that most of Toronto's rush hour traffic ends up on the 401 and its feeders. Toronto has few options in highway design because lake Ontario is in the way -no outer belts. OMG!

David Letterman has been skewering Rob Ford every evening. He says, "Toronto mayor Rob Ford is on craaaack." We have been DVRing Letterman and watching him in the AM. Love that show.
