Remember how some posters blamed the problems of ACA on Baucus?
Edited on Fri Dec-20-13 06:41 AM by No Elephants
Well, Obama is so furious about what Senator Baucus did to the White House's beautiful affordable care bill, the President is nominating Baucus for the plum assignment of ambassador to China.

Of course, blaming Baucus also overlooked how much Obama praised Baucus's work on the bill, both during the town halls during the summer of 2009 and after the bill passed.

No end to the fairy tales some people need to tell themselves.

1. I would try to find Baucus a more remote
and less prestigious appointment.

2. Well stated, or should I say, well understated.
But, I don't think it was Baucus who did away with the public option. I think that had been done well before the bill hit Capitol Hill. Maybe even before Obama's inauguration. Maybe even before his election.

One of Obama's chief campaign advisors--and his first choice for HHS, was Daschle, a quintessential New Democrat and also a lobbyist married to another lobbyist. I heartily recommend reading his wiki. It explains a lot, and not only about Obamacare.

3. Who needs Republicans
with all these "Democrats" betraying us at every turn.

4. Chuck Toad said this morning that perhaps the Republicans need a DLC.C.
Um, no, they have the Heritage Foundation. The DLC copied it.

Ditto the Progressive Policy Institute, "the place for pragmatic progressives" and Center for American Progress, Podesta's think tank. Podesta, another Clintonite, tripped over his big, long, tongue on his way into the White House and apologizee to Boehner already.

(It's only liberals to whom no one apologizes.)

And, of course, a Bushite came up with the No Labels think tank and the New Democrats raced to join.

I don't know how they tell each other apart.

5. I'm about to go to DU3
where there is a vocal contingent of Third Way and DLC type supporters. It has been pretty unpleasant lately. They claim to have the moral high road because they are "centrist". But they are nothing of the kind. Centrism would conform to the desires of a majority of the citizenry. Austerity and cutting "entitlements" is certainly not centrism, no matter what they claim.

6. As best I can tell, "centrism" means economic right and social issues left.
And, if it seems inconvenient, you don't have to go all that far left on social issues, either.
