Observing the anniversary of Wounded Knee.

Another thing they didn't teach me in history class. No, wait.

When I was in the 7th or 8th grade, my teacher showed the class slides of her trip to the Grand Canyon. In the course of doing that, she said, almost tearfully, "We did terrible things to the Indians, boys and girls." And that was it. No one, includin me, asked any questions.

1. Thanks. I Buried My Heart at Wounded Knee
was one of the few books that I have read twice. It has been over twenty years ago since my last reading of it. I should read it again. Ever read it, No Elephants?

2. Nope. Too late now..
Since my coma in 1996, during which time my vision was damaged, I've been unable to read books. Can't hang on to the narrative of a long piece. Not sure why. Magazine articles, maybe, if they're not too long, but definitely not books. Tried and tried while I was in the hospital.

3. That is horrible.
I too struggle with the narrative. I am easily distracted. But I have read hundreds of books in the past few years.

4. There are much worse things. Once I got people to stop giving me books for
my birthday, I adjusted.
