Reid open to cuts to pay for an extension of unemployment benefits, but not Obamacare.
Why is paying for unemployment via cuts a requirement now, when it has not been a requirement under other Republican or Democratic Presidents?

1. I think Reid gave the right response.
Let those Republican MFers come up with the cuts they would make. It's only a requirement now because the entire media is pushing the deficit/austerity narrative. Things have changed. There is no wiggle room in the media now.

2. The media is not the only one pushing it.
Remember, Obama entered office in January 2009, as a Democratic President, pledging entitlement reform. And he has been striving for a Grand Bargain ever since.

Yes, lately, he has been paying lip service to income inequality--after a number of cuts to the social safety nets, like fuel assistance, SNAP (food stamps), etc. Not to mention years of sequester, a proposal made by the White House, namely Sperling.

And, Obama most recent "offer to Republicans" is to cut corporate income taxes, also a Sperling brainchild.

And what about push back by Democrats against the austerity agenda? AWOL at best.
