The Lib Dem presently poll at about 9%. It is true that most of their MP's are in fairly safe seats. Though, if they're perceived as losing their borderline seats that could change. In Scotland they're in serious trouble. This week is the Lib Dem spring party conference and MP John Pugh is already planning a rebellion of sorts against the Party leadership which he feels is unresponsive to the north. How unresponsive? The north accounts for half of the 50 councils that have had to face the biggest cut in funding per head from central government. While only one council in the south has. "More remarkably, every one of the 10 least-cut councils is in Surrey. This is particularly astonishing as there are only 10 councils in Surrey.
All of this may eventually sort itself out later. But, probably not. The European Elections are coming up and they could likely come up with nothing. If last week's council by-election in Clifton North, Nottingham is any indication of how bad things are, they're gonna get routed. The Lib Dems finished in last place behind the 'Bus Pass Elvis Party' whose top priority is legalizing brothels
