Speaking Of Civility... Does Anybody Have A Date For The Last DU Gathering ???

For some of us oldies, there used to be actual gatherings in various parts of the country when possible.

In fact, there were actual DU Gathering threads on the front page of DU.

Many of us hooked up and protested the War in Iraq, among other things.

And we met each other face to face.

When was the last time we were that civil?

1. The last gathering in Sac was BACK IN THE DAY

I met LeftyMom, ChimpsRSmarter, and a few other folks at the Fox and Goose, and I dropped a glass of water on someone.

That was maybe 2005? 2006?

We should do that again. It was fun. :)

7. I have come to the conclusion that many of the DUers I

met at anti-war gatherings in Boston, NYC, and DC were only there because Bush wasn't a Democrat. I am sure they were there protesting Bush and not the war based on their current posting behavior and how they hiss,howl and whine at any and all criticism of Obama who isn't really all that much different than Bush in many ways. I wouldn't bother going to a DU meetup these days. Most of the interesting people have been kicked off or just don't come here anymore.

I have a military reunion coming up around the same time, and I've been afraid to compare the dates for fear of finding they'll conflict.

Thanks for the thread. I've never been to a DU meetup, but I think it would be a real kick to meet in person some of my cyberspace friends I know here. The real-world socializing would be a lot of fun, and I'm a strong believer in that kind of networking as a key to activism and coordinated political action. I've done antiwar protests with people I met online, and that was win-win-win on every level.
