Texas gun rights activists want teachers to carry concealed weapons

ARLINGTON — Two gun rights activists are proposing that Arlington teachers and administrators be allowed to carry concealed weapons on campus.

The idea, which comes amid national debate about high-profile public shootings, was immediately opposed by some school officials, one of whom called it "dangerous."

David McElwee and Bill Sandlin, members of the National Rifle Association, said they would outline their proposal to the school board Thursday night. As of 10:30 p.m., they were still waiting their turn to pitch the idea.

Before the meeting, the men said they would make a case to trustees that school shootings are too unpredictable to prevent by beefing up security forces or technology.

"When someone bursts into a classroom ready to kill, it's too late," McElwee said. "It's over within five minutes."

6. I worry about children being hit by cars in

school zones. We should arm the guards at the crosswalks so that speeders can be gunned down. It might save some lives. We should also consider arming the people who watch the children during recess; it might just stop an abduction from taking place. Even if these measures save only one child, it will be worth it. Right?

he says the people who would carry a concealed weapon would probably be the ones who would shoot their own foot if they tried to use it.
yes-Texas has special courses for citizens who qualify for conceal carry.
My sister has conceal carry as a field biologist with hhs(she looks for dead critters and rabid animals)
in her situation,it is valid.
A 5th grade teacher.. I don't see the benefit versus the harm.
i am a nurse.Since I work in a high crime area,should I conceal carry as I care for my patients?Just a question.Sometimes they/their families are under a lot of stress.
