Letter to Daily Beast about false equivalency

I just couldn't take it anymore, after seeing John Avlon call Olbermann a wingnut yet again.


Subject: Don't appreciate propaganda presented as reasoned opinion

Dear Daily Beast,

You are making a bad name for yourself among thinking people by putting front and center the diatribes of writers such as Howard Kurtz and John Avlon. Either they are simply ignorant or they are purposefully pushing an agenda without regard for the facts. In effect, they are apologists and propagandists for false figures such as Sarah Palin, Glen Beck, and Rush Limbaugh. I wonder if they are paid by the same interests to spout the propaganda of false equivalency. Howard Kurtz put out that astounding article after the Tuscon shootings rushing to defend Sarah Palin. And now Avlon beats the same drum, albeit disguised as taking into account both sides, comparing Keith Olbermann, a principled and intelligent commentator, with hired propagandists Beck, Kurtz, and Palin.

I just wonder if you are so hard-up for money that you allow this tripe in your otherwise intelligent and interesting online publication.

Not only does it not become you, you do a great disservice to this country by giving platform to propaganda as if it were reasoned opinion.
