Draft Jane Hamsher for Lieberman's seat!
So far, we've had Ted Kennedy, Jr. mentioned, and now Keith Olbermann has been brought up. Who will run for Joementum's seat in the Senate? Why not Jane Hamsher? I mean...she'd get dozens of votes, right? She could win, if only people knew the truth. Right?

If we're going to draft someone who can't win the seat, we might as well go to the top and choose Jane Hamsher. I'm just saying...

2. Well, if we're playing the game of nominating anyone who's in the
news to high office, why not consider the absurd? We seem to do that best. It'd be like...well...drafting Dennis Kucinich for President in 2012. Let's go all out in our question for Quixotic things to support!

I hope he lands somewhere soon. I don't want him in the Senate, though, and I'm betting the citizens of CT would reject him overwhelmingly.

39. If Dennis Kucinich would run in 2012, he would have my vote.
What is absurd in a democracy about a good Democrat like Kucinich running for a higher office?

Sadly he won't. He's a good Democrat and would never challenge a Democratic president. Surprised you don't know that.

The only reason it is 'absurd' as you call it, to think he might win, is because he hasn't exactly endeared himself to Wall St. criminals. In my liberal book, that makes him a great Democrat.

further than just signing a petition he signed.

Actually for many democrats, this president allowing Grover Norquist to advise him on the Federal Budget WAS a last straw.

Imagine, Grover Norquist invited to advise a Democratic President. I don't think even Bush gave him that much respect.

54. Thank you. Consistency is a rare commodity these days.
It's okay when the President does it though. Allows Norquist to advise him on the economy. Bi-partisanship and all that! But that's only for the privileged class, we plebs are supposed to remain divided into two teams. None of that highly regarded bi-partisanship for us 'lesser people', as Alan Simpson referred to the American people.

Wait, you're not saying that politicians do not believe in 'self-promotion and making money off rubes'?

All I can say is that I wish people could get back some of the money they've given to self-promoting politicians who say one thing when they have their hands out and then 'change' completely as soon as they win.

That WAS a funny statement though, considering we're talking about politics :hi:

Well, I'm all for putting up candidates who can win (which is why I don't mind running blue-dogs in the south), so if Lamont is in fact washed up, then we need to get somebody else. The important thing is to keep this seat Democratic. We've already got our hands full next year with Virginia, and North Dakota's seat will undoubtedly go to the Teapublicans.

Did you forget that Lamont kicked Lieberman's ass in the primary and that Lieberman won with a lot of GOP votes? If Lieberman had respected the results of the primary, Lamont would have made it.
