A spate of shooting attacks on law enforcement officers has authorities concerned about a war on cops.

In just 24 hours, at least 11 officers were shot. The shootings included Sunday attacks at traffic stops in Indiana and Oregon, a Detroit police station shooting that wounded four officers, and a shootout at a Port Orchard, Wash., Wal-Mart that injured two deputies. On Monday morning, two officers were shot dead and a U.S. Marshal was wounded by a gunman in St. Petersburg, Fla.

On Thursday, two Miami-Dade, Fla., detectives were killed by a murder suspect they were trying to arrest.

"It's not a fluke," said Richard Roberts, spokesman for the International Union of Police Associations. "There's a perception among officers in the field that there’s a war on cops going on."

18. I don't particularly care for a lot of cops, but I don't wish them dead...

Just because I view a lot of police as overstepping their authority and trampling on civil rights doesn't mean I view ALL of them that way. Also, I would never want to see any of them killed.

And one has to wonder, what with all the anti-Palin voices condemning her rhetoric on violence, targets, crosshairs, reloading, etc., why there is not a similar outcry here condemning all the 'rap' type lyrics that have the common theme of advocating violence against police and/or other groups.

palins hatred is not justified as democrats are not going around beating and killing conservatives, but police do go around beating and killing innocents every day. entire communities are afraid of the police. Ice T and easy E wrote songs about ideas widely supported in the areas they were from.

my indignation comes from the fact that cops often beat, murder and intimidate, are corrupt etc. i simply mention that i am white to signal that this kind of behavior happens to whites, so we can imagine that it is far worse for non whites. how dare the cops be violent to non violent people of any color? but you know as well as i know that black men are treated worse than white men by the cops. i pointed out that i was white to let people know that this is just average violence not even having anything to do with racial profiling which is even worse than what happened to me.
